Z changeloga xserver-xorg-core w Ubuntu:
* Revert changes from 10.2 and 10.3 (...) 10.2 attempted to fix bug 968845, but this caused the xserver to crash under rare conditions (1009629). 10.3 attempted to fix that crash, but resulted in a more commonly seen crash such as when using GIMP.

There was a time in the 1990s when I could identify every major mp3 encoder by sound (back when they were all pretty bad), and could demonstrate this reliably in double-blind testing [2].

(...)

2. If it wasn't the most boring party trick ever, it was pretty close.

SHA1 uses 160-bit keys, which makes collisions virtually impossible. Even with a gigantic number of objects, the odds of a collision in this space are far below the odds of a meteor crashing the computer that runs your program

In the early 2000s Nvidia was lagging behind ATI in performance, causing them to panic a bit about losing their stranglehold on the graphics card industry. As a quick attempt to "catch up" they set their drivers to disable common graphical options automatically, despite what the game called for. The real genius was that they set it up so that it would re-enable all those effects for a single frame if it caught the system trying to take a screenshot. (This of course being a time before streaming high quality comparison videos were feasible)

What you ended up with were benchmarks that claimed not only that Nvidia was faster, but that enabling antialiasing and texture filtering had little to no performance hit and comparison screenshots showed that image quality was equal or better than their competitor.

UDP is the honey badger of the internet protocol suite.
UDP is all about the transaction. UDP is standing on a cliff yelling, "Come at me, bro", whether you're there or not.
UDP is a man's protocol doing real shit like bootstrapping your ass and slapping an IP on you. Get up, motha fucka!
UDP will talk shit to one of you or all of you. UDP ain't scared. UDP brought the fear.
UDP understands that you may be slow sometimes. So UDP will wait for your sorry ass. UDP grew up without a father, too.
UDP sends a message and couldn't give a fuck if you got it or not.
UDP got a message from you saying that you got his messages and guess what? UDP didn't even open it! Not one fuck given.
Don't try to shake UDP's hand! You crazy?
And, when UDP dies because you weren't available, UDP doesn't shed a tear. UDP is hardcore. He's going out even if he knows you ain't there. UDP is a goddam one-man slaughter house.
Why?
Because UDP doesn't give a fuck.

Two young engineers applied for a single position at a computer company. They both had the same qualifications. In order to determine which individual to hire, the applicants were asked to take a test by the Department Manager. Upon completion of the test, both men missed only one of the questions.
The manager went to the first applicant and said, "Thank you for your interest, but we`ve decided to give the job to the other applicant."
"And why would you be doing that ? We both got 9 questions correct," asked the rejected applicant.
"We have based our decision not on the correct answers, but on the question you missed," said the Department manager.
"And just how would one incorrect answer be better than the other?" the rejected applicant inquired.
"Simple, "said the Department manager, "Your fellow applicant put down on question No. 5, `I don`t know` and You put down, `Neither do I.` "

Z dokumentacji dema Lucene (getting started):

You'll be prompted for a query. Type in a swear word and press the enter key. You'll see that the Lucene developers are very well mannered and get no results.
